Beverly Norman Obituary

Beverly Jean Norman (Geibel) passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025 at her group
care home in Mesa, Arizona where she has resided for the past five years. Family and
clergy were with her at her peaceful passing. Beverly celebrated her 97th birthday in
June.
Born June 13, 1928 in Sterling, Ill. to Francis (Frank) and Helen (Hurley) Geibel. Beverly
attended Sterling High School graduating in 1946. She then attended Jane Lamb Hospital
School of Nursing in Clinton, Iowa graduating in 1949 as a Registered Nurse. During her
nursing career Bev worked at the Sterling Hospital, the Savanna Hospital, Lincoln General
Hospital as Director of Nursing in Lincoln, Neb, the Hinsdale Hospital and Sanitarium as
Director of Nursing in Hinsdale, Ill, and Porter Hospital in Denver.
Beverly met her future husband at his brother's wedding in 1950. Bev and the love of her
life (Paul) were married on January 7, 1951. They had one son (Dick) born a year later.
Paul worked many years for Burlington Northern as a mid-level management executive.
This provided the opportunity to live in several states including Illinois, Nebraska and
Colorado during their working careers. Lincoln, Nebraska was the spot that captured their
hearts and they retired to Lincoln in 1982. They became snowbirds….summer in
Lincoln….winter in Apache Junction, Arizona. When Paul passed away in 1997 Bev remained
a snowbird until 2008 when she moved to the desert full time until her passing.
Bev and her sister, Mary Pat attended Epiphany Lutheran church in Apache Junction for
15+ years where her sister sang in the choir. Mary Pat lived in the same retirement
community as Bev so they were very close in proximity, as well as being very close as
sisters for the last 15 years of their lives. Bev’s son Dick and his wife Louise moved to the
same retirement community in 2018 so family was close and many good times were shared.
Bev loved her family along with her Desert Harbor wonderful neighbors and friends.
Bev was preceded in passing by her parents (Frank & Helen Geibel), her nephew (Larry
Otten), her husband (Paul) and most recently(May 2024) her sister Mary Pat Summers
(Geibel).
Bev is survived by her son Dick (Louise), niece Lynn Munz(Dean), nephew Lon Otten(Patti),
nephew John Norman (Jean), nephew Larry Pace (Gale), nephew Dale Pace (Sheila), nephew
Don Pace (Linda), niece Brenda Norman (Mark), niece Sheryl Norman, brother-in-law Gene
Summers(Mary Pat), sister-in-law June Norman (Frank), sister-in-law Elinor Norman (Al).

clubhouse of the Desert Harbor Retirement Community, 3700 South Ironwood Drive,

Apache Junction, AZ 85120. It will be a double celebration as this will also be Bev and
