Brenda Sue (Nuttall) Hurd passed away on 11 September 2025 in Carlsbad, New Mexico after a short illness. Brenda loved to travel and was not expecting this journey to be her last. Brenda was born 10 November 1951 to Dewain Floyd and Lydia Ellen (Brewer) Nuttall of Safford, Arizona. Brenda lived in many places during her lifetime, but Arizona has always been her home. Her last residence was in Maricopa, but she raised her family in Tempe and Ahwatukee. Brenda enjoyed many occupations and hobbies in her life: baton twirler, America West agent, nurse, crochet master, mother, grandmother, and loving wife. Through all life’s ups and downs, her greatest joy was spending time with her husband Rob; since they met, they were woven together for life and eternity. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Al Nuttall. She is survived by her husband, Robert Hurd III; her children: Shiloh (Tim) Johnson, Andrew (Melissa) Thatcher, Kelley Kaylan, Peter (Celeste) Thatcher, Matthew Thatcher, Bryce Hurd; stepsons, Robert and Jared Hurd; her brother, Jo (Marnie) Nuttall; eight grandchildren; and her beloved dogs, Kookie and Kutter.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 14439 E. Pecos Rd., Gilbert, Arizona 85295. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. The family will receive loved ones and friends at a viewing prior to the funeral from 9-9:45 a.m. on Thursday.
