Charles Scott Wilhelm Obituary

Charles Scott Wilhelm, age 59, passed away on January 16, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona. He is survived by his son, Christopher Scott Wilhelm, mother Betty Sill, brother Gregg Wilhelm, sister Katrina Durst, nieces and nephews, and brothers in heart Jef Burgus and David Barchini and their families. He is preceded in death by his father Charles D. Wilhelm.

Scott was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and lived in North Platte, Nebraska in his younger years, and lived in Savannah, Missouri in his teen years. In high school, he was active in drama, music, cross-country running, and debate. He attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was a top-ranked NCAA fencing competitor. He was a U.S. Marine and served in the Oklahoma National Guard. He then attended Western States Chiropractic College and Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He had a career in chiropractic and Oriental medicine before injury and disability prevented him from continuing his private practice. His passion was teaching, and he finished his career as a high school anatomy and physiology teacher. He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, because he loved the desert views and sunsets.

Although his disability prevented him from physically practicing martial arts in his later years, it was one of his passionate interests and he studied multiple martial arts including Aikido, Taijutsu, Tai Chi, and several forms of Kung Fu. He was a Qi Gong instructor and developed his own style involving the use of a five-foot staff called Bang Qi Gong. Scott was also a role-playing game designer and founder of Kingkiller Games.
