Cortlund “Corky" Wagner Obituary
Cortlund “Corky” Wagner, age 73, of Apache Junction, Arizona passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023 following a stroke and extended hospitalization.
He was the beloved uncle of Steve (Dawn) Curran and Scott (Amy) Curran. He was the cherished great uncle of Ethan, Chloe, Raymond, and Asprey.
In his life Corky was a business man, entrepreneur, and US patent-holding inventor. He was a proud Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW of Apache Junction.
Corky was a loving son who cared for his mother, Dora Lee Maynard, in her later years, through Covid, and during her final days. He played the guitar, made great conversation, and loved his family and his dogs.
Corky had a quick wit, warm smile, and thoughtful commentary on issues he cared about. He loved spicy food and a good laugh. He was gentle, gracious, and kind, was meticulously well organized, and had exquisite penmanship.
He brought joy to his family, his work, and the world, leaving each better than he found it. Those who loved him will miss him.
Consistent with Corky’s wishes, no services are currently planned. His family will honor his service to the United States with a private graveside service at a national cemetery with military honors at a later date.
Please honor Corky’s memory in a manner meaningful to you. If it involves a toast with a cold Coors, he’d love that! In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the VFW or other veteran services organization of your choice.
