Darrell R. Eddie, age 80, of Queen Creek, AZ passed away peacefully Wednesday January 7, 2026, at his home in Queen Creek, AZ. Darrell was born November 8, 1945, in Storm Lake, Iowa the son of Robert and Myrtle Eddie.  

On June 11, 1966, Darrell was united in marriage to Betty Ilene Oleson in Storm Lake, Iowa. Together, they were blessed to raise two children: Trudy and Travis.  

Darrell was a member of the Lake Creek County Club in his younger years. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, softball, baseball and cars. Darrell loved watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and racing. He had a love for classic cars, Corvettes and Camaro’s. Darrell was known for having a crazy knowledge about anything sports related and having a big sense of humor with a contagious big belly laugh. He loved to buy gag gifts for everyone at Christmas and always had endless witty one liners during game nights. Darrell treasured spending time with family and friends and attending his children, grand, and great-grandchildren's sporting events and dance recitals. Darrell had an unwavering love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Trudy Whitesel/ Michael DeSantis of Queen Creek, Arizona; and Travis/Mashel Eddie of Atlantic, Iowa; Grandchildren: Ridge/ Kylee, Courtney, Logan and Ian Whitesel; Great-Grandchildren: Zyla Whitesel,  Alyssa and Aurora Torry-Whitesel; Step Great Grandchildren Serenity, Devin and Brenna Torry; Brother: Russell Eddie; numerous family members including sister-in-laws; brother in laws; nieces; nephews; and friends. 

Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Eddie; parents Robert and Myrtle Eddie; parents-in-law Kenneth and Stella Oleson; brothers Dean and Roger Eddie and their wives Mary and Marlene Eddie; brother-in-law Jay Foskey and niece, Stephanie Dalbey.  

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday Jan 31st at 2pm at Abrazo Funeral Home.
