Derek William Orth, devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on February 19, 2025, at the age of 42. Born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, Derek came into this life fiercely loyal with a big heart and tender spirit. He lived a life full of contagious laughter, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his family. 

Derek’s greatest joy was his family. To his beloved wife and best friend of 17 years, Lauren, he was an endless source of love, devotion and safety. Their 4 daughters Ava (13), Faith (11), Bella (10), and Willow (8) were the light of his world.  Known for his playful spirit and endless patience, Derek was the ultimate “girl and Disney dad”- He never missed a single dance competition or opportunity to cheer “slay girl!” accompanied by proud tears of joy. Derek’s family was his heart. He poured his love, time and energy into creating a home filled with happiness, long hugs, endearing dad jokes and all the best food. His made-up bedtime songs and epic dance moves will be cherished forever. 

In his professional life, Derek was a successful business owner in Calgary, Canada for over 22 years. Colleagues and friends respected his work ethic and ability to find humor even on the toughest days. Derek was the truest friend to all, going out of his way to make everyone feel special and cared for.

Derek loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a man of deep faith.  He dedicated two years of his life serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cleveland Ohio. He often reminisced how it helped shape his life today. He adored his 8-year-old children’s Primary Class that he taught each Sunday. 

Derek is survived by his loving parents, Kim and Dana Orth; his siblings, Lisa Reed; Scott Orth; Trent Orth; Ciana Bullock. As well as in-laws and countless friends who became family over the years.

A celebration of Derek’s life will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025, with a public viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 AM and the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 3307 S Greenfield Rd, Gilbert Arizona.

Derek’s legacy lives on in the love he gave so freely and the lives he touched so deeply. He may be gone too soon, but his spirit will forever dance in the hearts of his girls and all who knew him.
