Most of those who achieve greatness become a focal point in the public spotlight. However, a select few are content with life out of the spotlight. Such was the life of Donna Lamb Benson. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and daughter, a follower of God and Jesus Christ, she leaves a profound impact on her posterity for years to come. She passed on June 20th from our loving family here on earth to her loving family waiting for her on the other side.

Donna Lamb was born on July 17, 1939, in Logan, Utah to Denzil David Lamb and Verla Wilson Lamb. Rebecca, Lois, Donna, and Reed were inseparable siblings. Donna lived her childhood life in Hyde Park, Utah where she graduated from North Cache High. She was known for her love of softball, art, sewing, baking, serving others, and love of her family. Her parents taught her and her siblings to work hard with the animals, garden, and farm. While at North Cache she met her husband Lionel Benson, whom she called 6’2” eyes of blue. After high school she attended Utah State while working as a librarian there. After almost a 2 ½ year engagement, while Lionel served a mission, they were married in the Logan Temple on December 15, 1961. She was a loving mother to 5 children Tami (Dan) Wardrop, Vicki (Mark) Stoker, Dave (Julie) Benson, Jennifer (Kyle) Carter, and Laurie (Rob) Friend. They even called Louise, their foster Navajo Indian student, one of their own. The family lived in Englewood, CO and Cheyenne, WY most of the years

raising their family. She spent her time as a wonderful mother, homemaker, active member of her community, and her church. Her favorite church calling was Junior Sunday School coordinator, she has always loved children. Few children can say they never heard their mother raise her voice in anger as they were reared in their home, but Tami, Vicki, Dave, Jennifer, and Laurie can. She always put her family's needs above her own even until the day she passed away, staying with her love, Lionel on Father’s Day.

When her children were grown and out of the home, Lionel and Donna went on several missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. First to Tempe Arizona, then Nigeria Africa with the WHO measle campaign, and then back to Tempe Arizona ASU YSA mission. They loved being in Arizona near the majority of their grandchildren during their first mission and made a permanent move to Gilbert, Arizona in 2000. Donna and Lionel have enjoyed spending time spoiling grandchildren, getting together as a family to play games, and watching the many sporting events their grandchildren played. Highlights for Donna are family gatherings, time with friends, family reunions- especially Bear Lake for over 55 years. She is an expert game player and wins most every time. She has a deep love of chocolate and made sure to pass along this love of chocolate to her posterity. She will truly be missed. We want to thank all the family, friends, and health care workers who took such great care of our mother in her time of need.

Monday, June 26, 2023 at 11 am. At the Emerald Bay LDS Chapel, 1483 N. Driftwood Bay, Gilbert, AZ. Visitation will be Sunday evening,

June 25th, 6:30 p.m.-8:00p.m and 10a.m to 10:45 a.m. Monday, June 26th. Interment will be in Hyde Park Cemetery on Saturday, July 1st at 11 a.m. Funeral Services by Abrazo Funeral Home.
