Fred Greenway, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born on August 22, 1941, in Linden, TN, to Fred and Gussie Greenway.

Fred is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, his partner of 60 years. Their marriage was a testament to their love and friendship.  Fred was a proud father to David (Laura) and Dena Truelove (Tony), who remember him as their rock. He was a cherished Papa to Ethan, Claire, Hanna, and Lilly, who were the apple of his eye. Fred is also survived by his brother, Larry (Evy) and several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Garry and David.

Fred lived in Gold Canyon, AZ, and Mancelona, MI, where he enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of both locations.

A committed teacher, Fred spent 30 years in the Utica schools, touching the lives of countless students with his wisdom and patience. His dedication to education was evident in the many generations of students who remember him fondly as a mentor and friend.

Upon his retirement, Fred discovered a new passion for photography, capturing the beauty of everyday moments and the world around him. In his later years, Fred taught himself to play the guitar, enjoyed fishing, cherished summers in northern Michigan, and was an avid fan of Detroit sports.

His legacy lives on through his family, his students, and the beautiful images he left behind. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Celebration of life events will be held in Mancelona on August 31 and in Gold Canyon on November 24. Additional details will be shared later.
