Jerry Lamont Hancock, 64, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2023. He was born in Holbrook, Arizona, June 11, 1959 to Twilla and Charles Hancock. In his youth, he grew up spending summers with family and cousins in Heber, Arizona. As a teen, he diligently worked with his father in his father’s Tree and Crane service.  Jerry graduated with honors from Westwood High School, Mesa, Arizona, in 1977. He served an honorable two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Milan, Italy, where he developed a deep love for the gospel and Italian food. He graduated, Summa Cum Laude from the University of Utah, in 1989. Jerry was known for his work ethic and skill as a Master Electrician.  He went on to be the successful owner of Ensign Electric. Using his skills and resources, he helped many people who were disadvantaged.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jerry loved serving his community, singing in the choir, and being involved with the youth. While living in Salt Lake City, Utah, he sang with the Mormon Youth Symphony and Chorus. In Washington, D.C. he sang with the Washington DC Temple Choir. 

Jerry is survived by his father, Charles Hancock, his siblings DaLauna, Ron, and Donnia, and his 6 children, Levi, Amy, James, Lori, Nona, Andrea, and seven grandchildren. Jerry is predeceased by his mother, Twilla, who passed in 2011.

He was a beloved grandpa, known as Grandpa J.

Jerry’s viewing will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Heber-Overgaard, AZ on September 23rd at 11:00 am. A family graveside service will be held in Forest Lakes, AZ.
