Joe Shannon Johnson, a man known for his big personality, giant grin and huge heart. Joe was tough, he never knew the word quit, his optimism and courageous spirit, passed away on May 24, 2024, at the age of 53, due to complications of Multiple Myeloma and Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Born on September 30, 1970, in Muscatine, Iowa, Joe departed this world peacefully with his wife and puppies beside him in San Tan Valley, Arizona.

After graduating from Bettendorf High School, Joe dedicated a 27 year of his life serving his country as a proud member of the Army, Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves with three combat tours: the Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom and War in Afghanistan. His service was a testament to his character—steadfast, disciplined, and full of heart. Joe's sense of duty was matched only by his love for his family, who stood by him through every chapter of his life. He leaves behind his beloved wife, DeAnn Johnson; his puppies Ziva, Diesel, Chance, Kona and Hank; his brother, Tim Johnson; and his stepson DJ Bivins (Brittney), 2 grandsons Kobe and Lincoln, his adored niece, Kinzie Johnson, his extended family Margie Campbell, 2 sisters Jayne Collins (Dan) and Amy Campbell Smith (TJ), nephews Austin and Jaxson.

Joe's passion for life was evident in his hobbies and interests. He could often be found working on his 1975 Corvette Stingray, a project that was more than a pastime; it was a canvas for his creativity and mechanical genius. Friends knew that an invitation to Joe's garage was an opportunity to share in laughter, camaraderie, and the occasional life lesson, all delivered through Joe's engaging storytelling.

His love for firing his weapons was another facet of his multifaceted personality, showcasing his precision and respect for the sport.

Joe's stories were legendary, a blend of humor and wisdom that could captivate any audience. He had the rare gift of making every person he met feel like the most important person in the room. His tales were not just stories; they were reflections of a life lived fully and with intention.

He approached every challenge with a positive outlook, and his courage inspired those around him to face their own struggles with the same determination. Joe's thoughtfulness was felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, leaving a deep and lasting impact on friends and family alike.

His absence will be profoundly felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He is preceded in death by his mother Anna Atwood, stepfather Rick Campbell.
