Kim Whatcott Obituary

Kim Whatcott March 30, 1952 - January 10, 2024

Kim Whatcott, son of Garth and Doris Whatcott, was a brother, a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated member of the community. He passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024 surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

Kim was born in Plainview, Nebraska on March 30, 1952 and enjoyed his childhood years in Douglas and Mesa, Arizona. Kim was an avid reader, dreamer and had a passion for music, art and life. He was deeply religious and loved his Savior. He chose to serve as a missionary for his church and was blessed to serve in Hong Kong, where he not only preached the gospel but also had the great fortune of meeting his future wife, Siu. The two later married and were blessed with four boys and one girl, whom he cherished dearly.

Throughout his life, Kim worked tirelessly to support his family, often holding multiple jobs. He believed strongly in the value of learning and encouraged his children to get an education. When the timing was right, he gained a bachelor's degree in international business. His dedication to his family extended beyond providing for them – he was a source of love, strength, and guidance. His devotion to his children was unwavering, and his legacy lives on in the values he instilled in them.

In addition to his role as a loving father and husband, Kim was an active member of his church community, serving diligently in various church assignments. His commitment to his faith and community touched the lives of many.

Kim is survived by his five siblings: Gaylen (Carol), Tim (Kelly), Annette, Deena (Ray), and Rhea (Sam), his beloved wife Siu of 48 years, and five children: James (Sarah), Jason, David (Sheena), LeiLani (Paul), and Daniel, and nine grandchildren: Ryan, Jakob, Kai, Ethan, Luke, Eli, Isla, Benny, and Lucy. He will be remembered for his kindness, hard work, and the love he shared with those around him.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Kim's life on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 10 am, located at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 39477 N. Kenworthy Rd., San Tan Valley, AZ 85140.

Family viewing will begin at 9:00 am; general viewing will begin at 9:30 am.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
