Doreen was born on December 29th, 1939 in Mesa, Arizona. She was the second of seven children born to Wendel Alma Davis and Nina Burt Davis. Doreen has now been reunited with her father, mother, brothers Kumen and Nile, and other family members that have preceded her.
Doreen attended grades 1st -7th at Alma School and 8th and part of 9th at the new Mesa Junior High, Doreen then moved with her family to Salt Lake City, Utah where she attended and graduated from Olympus High School in 1957. Doreen married Milan Mack Boyce Sr. in November 1960, together they had 4 children. Doreen graduated from BYU with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Education. Doreen eventually moved back to her roots in Arizona.
On January 6th, 2004 Doreen married Bob Hansen. Over the last 21 years, Bob and Doreen have loved traveling, playing card games and Mexican Train with Morgan and Suzanne Davis and other close friends, reading books, attending the theatre, going to movies, watching TV series or game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, as well as teaching grandchildren and great grandchildren how to play her favorite games. Bob and Doreen enjoyed many adventures together over the years and cherished their time together. Their bond brought joy to their lives and the lives of their families.
Doreen was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her, with passions as vibrant as her spirit. She was a lover of music, a certified choral director, a music arranger and publisher, an entrepreneur at heart, a business owner, an avid reader, a great cook, a teacher and a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings and leadership positions. One of Doreen’s most cherished activities was her time spent in The Scottsdale Chorus, a chapter of the Sweet Adelines International. During her time with the chorus, Doreen found joy in singing and friendship, and a love for barbershop and four-part harmony. She also loved family history and dedicated hours of her time to preserving and celebrating the stories of her family and ancestors.
Doreen will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her love and legacy will continue to grow through her family and friends.
