Patricia Stockton Obituary
Patricia “Patsy” Stockton, aged 84, passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, April 6th, 2023, in Mesa, Arizona. Born March 19th, 1939 to parents Walter and Stella (Prokopowicz) Chmiel. She was the oldest of six children, raised on a farm in Muskego, Wisconsin. She learned to cook for a crowd under the guidance of her Polish grandmother, Mary. This led to a lifelong love of food and cooking.
Patsy was a 1957graduate of Mukwonago high school. Following a short courtship, she married private first-class Raymond Charles Stockton Jr. on September 14th of that same year. Together, the couple raised five girls and two boys. The Stockton house was always where the neighborhood kids loved to come and play. Having enough of the cold winters, Pat and Ray moved with their four youngest children to Apache Junction, Arizona at the base of the Superstition Mountains in 1981.
The family worked together to build the house by hand.
Patsy was known for her extreme intelligence; strong work ethic, and her ability to knowledgably discuss just about any topic at any time. Patsy spent much of her life as a tax professional for H&R Block, as well as bookkeeper for multiple businesses. She enjoyed travelling around the US. She loved San Diego and going back home to Wisconsin. Our mom enjoyed good food, creative television shows like Project Runway, puzzles, and just about all sports. She was in awe of any type of creative talent or athleticism. She was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers as well as a supporter of all Arizona sports teams.
First and foremost, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Patricia will always be remembered for the strong personal relationships she forged, and the legacy of love she left behind. Patricia was always surrounded by children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. They were all her favorites, and she was theirs. Those grandchildren could just do no wrong. She enjoyed many loyal and longtime friendships with Arlene, Colleen, and cousin Susan. Once she accepted you as family, you are always family. With a special mention of John, Mike Farber, Steven Dick and Rick Newman, Rex, and Robert, you all meant the world to her. I know that we may have missed a few people. You already know that she loved you. She had a sharp wit, beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and wasn’t above telling you exactly what she thought at any given time. Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, brother Joseph, grandchildren Gina, Wendy, Mikey, and Jamie.
Patricia is survived by her husband Raymond; children Debbie Jarosik, Michael (Kelly) Stockton, Steve (Collette) Stockton, Gail Stockton, Jackie (Dave Holzinger) Stockton, Lisa Stockton and Ellen Stockton; siblings Dennis (Chris) Chmiel, Cindy (Larry) Schweitzer, Eddie (Sharon) Chmiel, Linda Rast; 9 grandchildren, 18 great Grandchildren, 4 great-great Grandchildren, and a multitude of other people in the family.
Services are being held from 3pm to 6pm Friday, April 14th, 2023, at Abrazo funeral Home 1075 S Idaho Rd Unit 300 Apache Junction AZ 85119.
