Robert “Rob” Allen Hehe, 65, of Queen Creek, passed away on February 24, 2026.

Rob was born on November 4, 1960, in Yuma, Arizona, to Jeane and Frank Hehe. He was raised alongside his two brothers, Gerald and Scott. A natural athlete, Rob played football, basketball, and baseball throughout his youth, eventually continuing his baseball career at Northern Arizona University, Arizona Western College, and Glendale Community College.

While Rob had several different career paths, oil pipeline, Radyne Technologies and Owner/Operator of H&H Landscaping, he decided to pursue work where he could make an impact in his community.  He became high school softball coach and was able to do what God had planned for him. He was a mentor, friend, and bright light to everyone around him. A wise, fun-loving cowboy at heart, he had a rare way of bringing out the best in people. Whether you were a player, fellow coach, coworker, friend, or family member, Rob made you feel seen, supported, and capable of more than you thought possible. He spent his life lifting others up and leaving every place—and every person—better than he found them.

Rob’s love for the game of softball began early, inspired by his father’s involvement in men’s fastpitch softball. By the age of 12, he was already catching and playing on men’s teams. It was there that he developed his passion for pitching—a skill he would later take great pride in as a coach. Known for his dedication, Rob would throw hundreds of pitches a day to prepare his teams, often recreating opposing pitchers’ styles so his players could be ready for any challenge.

He began coaching club softball with the Hotshots program in the early 2000s, where he embraced his lifelong role as both coach and father, including coaching his daughter. 

Rob married Jennifer in May of 2005. Together, they shared a strong faith and a deep passion for giving back to their community. They raised their three sons, Dalton, Robbie, and Monte. His family was the reason he did everything. He was an amazing leader, protector, loving father, wonderful husband. Rob was a loyal and trustworthy friend, always willing to show up and help out whenever he was asked.

He later became part of the Perry High School softball program when the school opened, starting as the junior varsity coach before becoming head coach—a position he held for over a decade. He left Perry to become the first softball coach at Crismon High School. He was excited for the challenge to begin a program at a new Junior High and High School.

In addition to softball, Rob coached his sons, Robbie and Monte, in Little League and club baseball. Most recently, he coached with Mound Magic baseball organization, where he coached teams for both Robbie and Monte. He coached every one of his children in every sport they played.

Rob never accepted money for lessons. Instead, he could often be found at a field or park, helping anyone who wanted to improve—whether it was learning to pitch, fixing a swing, or simply offering encouragement. This was his gift and what he left as his legacy.

If you ever had the privilege of playing for Coach Hehe, you probably remember his laugh across the field, the way he believed in you even when you doubted yourself, and the life lessons he taught that went far beyond the game.

In the weeks following his passing, many of his former players shared a common message—one that perfectly captured who he was. Rob never said “you need to” or “I told you.” Instead, he always said, “we can.”

We can improve. We can win. We can get through this.

That belief—that spirit of encouragement and unity—is the legacy he leaves behind.

The Crismon Softball Game on February 26 drew hundreds of people—family, friends, and former players ranging in age from 10 to 40—each a testament to the countless lives he impacted through his coaching, mentorship, and unwavering support.

Rob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 739 W. Erie Street, Chandler, AZ on Friday, April 10th at 1pm, with a reception to follow.

Rob is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Hehe, his children, Alyse Hehe, Dalton Rapstad, Robbie Hehe and Monte Hehe. 

His father Frank Hehe; his older brother, Gerald Hehe and wife Sara, his younger brother, Scott Hehe and wife Sheryl, his 4 nieces and 1 nephew, and 1 grandson.

And.. all of his players. One Team, One Goal – always.
