Steven Michael Campbell, much-loved husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather passed away at the age of 80 at his home in Mesa, Arizona on February 12, 2023 due to a broken hip and from the effects of Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Morenci, Arizona, on November 1, 1942, the second of two children of Richard M. and Lurlene Long Campbell, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard M. Campbell, Jr. (Dick). The family moved to
Thatcher, Arizona where Steve lived most of his young life. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Great Lakes Mission. On his return, he dated and later married the love of his life, Rosalie Burrell from Safford, Arizona in the Mesa Arizona Temple on April 15, 1965. Steve studied for four years at Arizona State University. He worked for Universal Homes from 1969 to 1985 concluding his work there as their marketing director. Steve later established his own successful company, Camel Homes, where he built and landscaped many beautiful custom homes from 1985 to 2008. He was known for his integrity, fairness and creativity. Steve had a lifelong love for sports. He played all sports in high school and as an adult he developed a love for golfing. He enjoyed many hours on the golf course with family and friends. Steve was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in a variety of callings including Elders Quorum President, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, High Councilman, Bishop and Temple Ordinance Worker. Steve and his sweetheart, Rose, served a mission to the Philippines San Pablo Mission from 2011-2013, which provided them with a life changing experience as they served the very humble Filipinos. His family meant everything to him. Steve stated in his declining years that his family was his greatest comfort and joy. Steve is survived by his wife, Rosalie, their four children, 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Their children and their spouses are Scot Campbell; Lance Campbell and his wife Rebecca; Seth Campbell and his wife Becky; and Lindsey Mann and her husband Kip.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 2424 N. Old Gilbert Road in Mesa, Arizona. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and the funeral will follow at 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Mesa City Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday,
February 25, 2023.
