Zachary Rose Obituary

Our beautiful son, brother, cousin, grandson, nephew, and friend, Zachary Thomas Rose, returned to his loving Heavenly Parents on March 22, 2024, at his home in Phoenix, Arizona.

Born to Stephen and Alisha Rose in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 29, 1997, Zach had a magical childhood surrounded by grandparents, great-grandparents, uncles, aunts, and neighbors who cherished and showered him with love and attention. From his earliest days, Zach was known for his artistic talents, which he continuously carried and developed throughout his life. His heart of gold and passion for the holidays combined with his creativity were manifested in a haunted house put on for his neighborhood, a yearly tradition that helped him earn his Eagle Scout Award as he collected hundreds of pounds of donated food to the St. Mary's Food Bank.

Zach loved his role as big brother to Eden and Nic, who grew up admiring his sense of humor and delighting in the sound of his laughter. Throughout his life, he often expressed to his parents how much he loved and was proud of his siblings.

A talented musician and songwriter, Zach loved playing guitar, drums, mandolin, and bass with his dad, uncle, cousins, and friends. His closest relationships were with his family members, many of whom claim him as their very best friend.

Born with an adventurous spirit, Zach loved the peace and beauty he experienced being in nature and his favorite moments were spent outdoors. Exploring in Havasupai, hiking the Superstitions, paddle-boarding down the Salt River, surfing in Kauai, horseback riding with Grandpa Tom, running in the Riparian Preserve with his mom, and skateboarding in San Diego with his dad brought him great joy. His bold enthusiasm for exploration fueled his travels with family to New York, Hawaii, Norway, Florida, Holland, Mexico, and California. As a teenager, he went on a service mission to Peru, where he enjoyed visiting Machu Picchu. After attending the University of Arizona for a semester, he worked and had adventures in Vancouver, Canada for a year and a half. He ate countless Sunday dinners with Grandma Carol and Grandpa Glenn, played lacrosse, skied, snowboarded, loved working out, attending live Muay Thai and boxing events with Grandpa Marvin and cousins, and cooking for the missionaries with Uncle Brent.

He was a dedicated son who frequently enjoyed coming home to spend time with his parents. Those who were lucky enough to know him will never forget how he looked out for others in need and was the first to assist, working long hours to lift the burdens of others and emulating his Savior, Jesus Christ through gentleness, loyalty, and a servant’s heart. Zach was strong, hardworking, diligent, disciplined, caring, confident, and yet humble.

Despite facing mental health challenges for several years with grit, courage, and determination, he modeled a great attitude, strong work ethic, and a deep love for his family and friends. To honor his life, care for your mental and physical health, show compassion for the needs of those around you, and serve like Zach.

Zach is survived by his parents, Stephen and Alisha Rose, sister Eden Rose Willardson (husband Spencer), brother Nic Rose (partner Elle Beus), and his beloved dog, Sonny. He is preceded in death by Grandma Jill Tuft, Great-grandparents Joe and Dora Dana, Jack and Jeanne Okland, Arthur and Una Murl Rose, and Robert and Jody Tuft. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30th, 2024 at 11 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (495 S Greenfield Rd, Gilbert, AZ  85296 United States), with a viewing preceding the service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Internment will be at Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery (7900 E Main St Mesa, AZ 85207). In lieu of flowers, please donate to a mental health organization of your choice.
